Recently he has focused on the delivery of large scale, mixed-use regeneration projects which bring lasting benefits to the communities they serve. He is highly experienced in community engagement, business planning, and facilitation with the private, public, charitable and voluntary sectors.
Alister Wilson
Futures and Leadership
Alister Wilson is Director of Waverley Consultants. He has 20 years’ experience consulting in strategy and futures thinking with clients in government (including the devolved administrations), higher education and the private sector. He works with senior management teams to identify drivers of change and to develop strategies for securing long term competitive advantage. Alister is the author of the UK Government’s Futures Toolkit and provides training in futures thinking.
Andrew Shadrake
Social Enterprise
Andrew has worked for a number of companies and consultancies in the low carbon and social enterprise sectors. He brings 25 years of strategic and hands-on social enterprise support, including with his own company – Climate Positive. He has co-founded several social enterprise organisations in the South West – including RISE and Wessex Reinvestment Trust. Andrew delivers advice and support on strategic and business planning, governance, legal structures and financial planning.
Andrew Southall
Business Support
Andrew has almost 40 years’ business experience, particularly in the water and environmental sectors. He has been working independently with businesses seeking change since 2010, providing advice, coaching and mentoring. His client base spans civil engineering contracting, utilities, renewable energy, environmental technology, law and the public sector. His core areas of expertise include innovation challenge, strategic planning, operations management, raising finance, and knowledge transfer.
Angharad Butler
Economics and Research
Angharad is an economist with nearly 20 years’ experience working throughout the UK. She now runs her own company, BJC Consulting. Angharad delivers research studies, with specific interest in regional economic structures, industry development, infrastructure, skills and education and the food and drink sector. Angharad has advised on policy formation, structural fund programmes, and investment decisions. She is an experienced presenter in both Welsh and English.
Dominic Houston
Planning and Regeneration
Dominic is the owner and Director of Houston Economic Consulting. He is an economist and planner who specialises in development viability and impact assessments. His experience includes masterplan studies, a wide range of economic and socio-economic impact studies, infrastructure planning, feasibility studies, evaluations and business plans. Dominic has a particular interest in the tourism and leisure sectors, having been Research Manager at South West Tourism.
Jo Talbot
Evaluation and Research
Jo is the owner and Director of JOHT Resources Ltd and an economic development professional with extensive experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Her main areas of work relate to evaluation and assessment, economic development, project development and policy and strategy development. She has worked extensively in programme and project evaluations, rural development and strategy development. She is highly experienced in consultation and research methodologies.
Mary Schwarz
Cultural Strategy
Mary is an independent arts and cultural sector consultant specialising in evaluation, research, strategy and facilitation. She has over 30 years’ experience working with regional policy and funding agencies, individual artists, cultural organisations, local government and higher education. Her last post was as Founding Director of the Centre for Creative Enterprise and Participation at Dartington College of Arts. She served as a governor and Deputy Chair at Plymouth College of Arts for six years.
Rebekah Southern
Strategy and Research
Rebekah is the owner and Director of Southern Horizons which provides research and consultancy services to public, private and social purpose organisations across the UK. She has extensive experience in monitoring, evaluation and strategy development. Previously Rebekah was an Associate Director for Research and Innovation at Plymouth University and the cofounder and first Director of SERIO, a successful commercially funded research centre.
Robin Miller
Data Analysis
Robin is the owner of Understanding Data, trading since 2015. With 30 years’ experience as a specialist in research, analysis and strategy, Robin is skilled at evidence gathering, data analysis and interpretation – bringing insight to a range of projects and clients. He has expertise in drawing detailed and strategic meaning from diverse demographic, economic and housing market data sources.
Shane Vallance
Economics and Evaluation
Shane is the owner and Director of Moor Economics. He is a skilled freelance economist, researcher, and appraisal and evaluation practitioner. He has
more than 20 years’ experience of using his strong analytical skills in both the private and public sectors.Shane previously worked as Senior Economist at the South West RDA and the Met Office. He also currently works as an Economic Associate for Pro Bono Economics, providing support to national organisations in the charity and third sector.
